Next, add an accenting punch of dark color in a gleaming gloss finish on the window sashes, shutters and doors.  (Remember that the window casings are part of the trim.)  Traditional shades such as a dark green, a rich chestnut brown or a deep burgundy red provide the all-important third color that enlivens the whole paint scheme.

For extra creativity and interest, the doors (even the garage doors!) can take on a brighter, more artistic look with (your) favorite eggplant purple, persimmon or deep teal.

Whether you opt for traditional colors or this year’s custom mix, look to the three color scheme, and the house will put its best foot forward!
